Sjaerdemahof is located on the edge of Goënga, a small, characteristic terp village nestled in the open Frisian countryside – right between Sneek and the lakes. Here you'll camp in an environment where peace, space, and culture converge.
Goënga is part of De Lege Geaën (Frisian for "the Low Countries") – a region full of meadows, waterways, tranquility, and history. The high church hill in the village center recalls the Middle Ages, when residents settled on mounds to keep their feet dry.
From our campsite, you can easily cycle or walk to Sneek, or explore the rest of Southwest Friesland via quiet roads and waterways. De Lege Geaën is ideal for those who love nature, birds, boats, and panoramic views.
Did you know… Goënga is the birthplace of Eeltsje Halbertsma (1797–1858)? Together with his brothers, he wrote the Frisian national anthem, among other things. So Frisian culture is literally rooted here.
