What a year! Grateful, proud, and excited for 2026
Sometimes there are those moments when you have to pause. Because it was going too fast. Because it was too beautiful. Because you feel: we are taking this with us. 2025 was such a year for us. A year of dreams becoming reality. Of tackling things together. And of many wonderful encounters at Sjaerdemahof.
Finally, the green light
In April, we finally received the permit for the campsite and the tea garden.
After months of making plans, signing, waiting, and hoping, we were allowed to set off.
And off we went. With a list full of dotting the i's that ultimately turned out to be a few more dots than expected.
Building together
With the help of friends, we worked incredibly hard. Putting our shoulders to the wheel, rolling up our sleeves, pushing through together. All with one goal: to be able to open for Ascension Day.
In between doing odd jobs, we made a registration form on the website.
And then… suddenly the first reservation came in. And another one. And another one.
What an Ascension Day
The Ascension weekend was unforgettable. 15 spots booked. Beautiful weather. Everything worked. And the atmosphere? It was there right from the start. That feeling, that people feel at home here immediately, that was the moment we knew: this is right.
A great summer
The rest of the season flew by. What a summer. What a diversity of people.
What stories. It was so special to be able to welcome guests,
to let them enjoy our place and to let them, even if only for a moment, be part of our community.
Highlights to cherish
In the meantime, our neighbors had become curious about what had developed here.
That resulted in an opening party on the longest day of the year. We invited the entire village, along with our camping guests. Later, we heard from guests how special it was to see: all those people walking from the village to Sjaerdemahof. It had a park-like feel to it. Almost cinematic. The weather couldn't have been better.
And of course, there was also Sneekweek. Enjoying the sailing races during the day,
or perhaps the silence and the view of our yard. In the evening, the hustle and bustle of the festivities in Sneek, thanks to Saskia's now-famous taxi service.
Winter stillness & looking ahead
By now, the campsite has already been closed for a few months. Peace has returned.
And us? We are busy working on, improving, and refining. All to make Sjaerdemahof even more complete. We look back on a wonderful start to our campsite.

For us, camping is all about the outdoors, being together, and enjoying the little things. That's why you'll find everything you need for a wonderful, relaxing time here:
Camping sites near Sneek with space and freedom, 21 free pitches and 4 paved camper pitches. We're a newly established campsite and still developing. Comfortable sanitary facilities, a heated restroom with five toilets, two urinals (coming soon), and five showers (including one family shower). Hot water and showers are always included. Rent a fire pit for cozy evenings, roast marshmallows, share stories, and enjoy the starry sky. Kids can play outside. Ride go-karts around the grounds, jump on the trampoline, and go on nature adventures together. Fresh rolls in the morning. Order your rolls in the evening, and they'll be crispy and ready for you in the morning. Need to put the phone down? Find a great story to dive into in our bookcase. Or grab a game from the games cupboard. Need a breather? We always have a good old-fashioned cup of coffee or tea waiting for you. Just to sit, watch, listen, and above all, relax. Ice cream for a summery treat, cooling off after a long bike ride, or just… because you can! Wifi? Yes, but… it's there. But why not truly disconnect and enjoy the peace and quiet? Don't forget your flashlight! It's really dark here, and to see the stars clearly, we have very little lighting on the grounds! That's precisely what makes our nature campsite in Friesland so special. To maintain that pleasant atmosphere, from early risers to bonfire-makers, we ask our guests to adhere to a few simple but important agreements. Respect for nature and each other: Enjoy the space, but leave everything tidy. In the evenings, we keep it quiet so everyone can sleep under the stars. This is a car-free campsite, and parking is provided in the parking lot, keeping the grass green and the campsite safe for everyone. Campfires and conviviality: Fires are allowed in the designated areas. We keep things cozy, without loud music. Dogs are welcome, as long as they are leashed, walked outside the grounds, their poop is picked up, and they don't cause a nuisance. This way, it stays pleasant for everyone! Sustainable camping We separate waste, use as little water as possible, and leave nature undisturbed as much as possible. We take care of our lawn and avoid using suffocating groundsheets, so the grass stays healthy and everyone can enjoy a green camping field. Environmentally friendly products: Our septic tank works naturally. Therefore, only use biodegradable soap, shampoo, and chemical toilet fluid (we don't (yet) have a chemical toilet disposal point; it can be emptied neatly into the toilet). Camping rates per night
At Sjaerdemahof, you'll camp on a spacious field in the heart of the Frisian countryside, just 5 minutes from Sneek. Our campsite is small, natural, and conveniently laid out.
You choose a comfortable spot for your tent, trailer tent, small caravan, or campervan. Most pitches are sunny, but our young plants are still growing, so shade is limited. However, you'll enjoy plenty of space around you.
Our rates are per night and include hot showers, refrigerator use, and phone charging stations. If you'd like electricity at your campsite, you can easily add it.
We like to keep things clear and honest, with no hidden costs. Below you can see what you'll pay per night.

Relaxed Departure → Would you like to have a quiet breakfast on your last day, read a book in the sun or take a last bike ride? In consultation, you can extend your stay until 18:00 for a half-day rate. Let us know when you want to make use of this.
High season & special weekends

Ascension Day & Pentecost → from May 28 - June 1 and June 6 - June 9, 2025 the high season rate applies.

During Ascension Day and Pentecost, reservations are only possible for the entire weekend (minimum 3 nights).
Cars & Parking
We like to keep our terrain spacious and green. That is why our terrain is car-free and you park your car in the central parking lot. We assume a maximum of 1 car per camping spot, because our parking space is small and really full = full!
This way, Sjaerdemahof remains a peaceful, natural place where everyone can enjoy themselves to the fullest.
Stay & departure times
Arrival from 2pm, departure before 12pm.
Relaxed Departure → Would you like to enjoy a leisurely breakfast on your last day, read a book in the sun, or take a final bike ride? You can extend your stay until 6:00 PM for a half-day fee, upon request. Just let us know if you'd like to use this option.
About us, a dream in Friesland
We are Saskia and Jan-Henk, proud owners of Sjaerdemahof: a small-scale campsite and tea garden in the peaceful village of Goënga, in the heart of Friesland. Our B&B is under construction and will follow soon, but the first steps of our dream have already become a reality. Together with our five children, we chose a new life in 2022, closer to nature and further away from the hustle and bustle. What was once a farmyard with 90 cows, we gradually transformed into a green oasis. With love, attention, and a great deal of manual labor, we planted more than 1,500 trees and shrubs, removed paving, sowed flowers, and created a space for peace and quiet and socializing. Our two youngest children (now 16 and 14) are fully involved in our adventure. The three oldest live in the Randstad, but love to return to this place to enjoy the outdoors and Frisian hospitality. What we value We believe in simplicity with quality. In space to breathe, unwind, and recharge. Whether you come camping, stay at the B&B, or simply relax in our tea garden: you are welcome just the way you are. Sjaerdemahof is a place for everyone who loves nature, tranquility, personal attention, and a small-scale atmosphere. From building fires to stargazing, from cycling to simply doing nothing.
